Based Save States
In the meantime of searching for a level 17 Timburr in the dark grass outside Pinwheel Forest, found this fellow. The thing is, save states come in handy when you don't want to fight random foes and just encounter what you're looking for. I was getting tired though, so once the repel effect wore off, a fight started et voilĂ ! I'm not a big fan of Action Replay or any other method out there, not a critic either; however, must admit that legit are always welcome, despite its worthless IVs.
What do?
Well, if you would like to try this, all you need is an emulator supporting save states (double speed wouldn't hurt either); next step would be not standing on grass, go to an area free of grass and save your state there; then roam about randomly. If you're encountering the same critter over and over, just load your state and walk around the area without stepping on the grass, make a new save state and then dive into the grass!
This sorta generates a new number in the game memory, which is then processed into the next wild creature you'll see next... And if you're lucky (like me) the number might just trigger a shiny!
